Special monitor NHRC visits Gandhi Vanita Ashram, inspects working of observation and children home

National Human Rights Commission Special Monitor Bal Krishan Goel on Wednesday visited local Gandhi Vanita Ashram wherein he inspected the working of Observation Home, Children Home, and Observation Home for Girls.

Accompanied by District Program Officer Manjinder Singh, District Child Protection Officer Ajay Bharti, Legal Probationary Officer Sandeep Kumar, the Special Monitor took stock of facilities being provided by the authorities at this Ashram. He personally visited the kitchen wherein he inspected the quality of food grains, followed by inspection of medical and counseling facilities available for inmates living here.

Mr. Goel also held a detailed discussion with the inmates living in this ashram and took their valuable feedback so that the benefit of all the necessary facilities could be ensured to them. He also directed the officials to solve the grievances of the inmates, if reported/lodged by them. The Special Monitor also sought information about efforts being made by the authority for the rehabilitation of inmates living at this ashram. He also directed the staff to maintain all the requisite records pertaining to these homes as per the guidelines of the commission.

He also said that efforts were being made by the National Human Rights Commission to prevent the violation of human rights in any government or non-government organization. He said that we should all be aware of human rights which our constitution has given to every citizen of the country.
