Jalandhar : Continuous efforts were being made to bring transparency in the Punjab Waqf Board. Funds worth Rs. crores are being continuously released for the development of mosques, boundary walls of cemeteries, education and medical facilities besides reserving graveyards for the people of Muslim community.
However, there is rising demand from the people of the Muslim community in the state that the cemeteries in their villages are being encroached upon; thereby it was need of the hour to carry out demarcation drive cross cemeteries so as to remove illegal encroachment from there.
Interacting with media, ADGP cum Administrator Punjab Wakaf Board MF Farooqui on Thursday said that the board is continuously reserving graveyards for the Muslim community and also securing them through fencing.
He told that for any kind of official work which mainly involves the marking of cemeteries, which is done by satellite or by appointing a commission or by other means, which costs thousands of rupees to people. Now, people from Muslim Community would not have to pay for thos as it would be borne by district funds entirely on the behalf of the Punjab Wakaf Board.
He announced that a contingency fund of Rs 2 lakh is being issued by the Punjab Waqf Board to all District Estate Officers of which they can incur on demarcation task.
He further said that the board is constantly trying to remove the difficulties faced by the people, for this two WhatsApp numbers 98775-22568 and 7973712366 have also been issued in the past on which people can send their complaints.
