Jalandhar :
Punjab Government to kick start Paddy procurement from October 1st and the Jalandhar administration has made adequate arrangements for the smooth procurement during the current season .
Deputy commissioner Mr Vishesh Sarangal said that the target of procurement of 10.50 Lakh MT paddy has been fixed in Jalandhar district.
He said that elaborate arrangements have been made at all mandis of the district to carry out the procurement process of paddy in a smooth and hassle-free manner. 81 regular Mandi’s in the district is all set for procurement and the MSP for grade A paddy would be Rs. 2203 per quintal.
Deputy Commissioner further said that the grain markets have already been allotted to various government procurement agencies like PUNSUP, Warehouse, Markfed, and FCI .
To facilitate the farmers, drinking water, lights, toilets etc. have been installed and instructions have been issued to the Food and Supply Department to ensure payment to farmers against the purchased paddy within 48 hours, he added.
Apart from this, Deputy Commissioner also gave instructions to arrange adequate gunny bags and timely lifting so that farmers would be able to sell their crop in an hassle free manner .
Deputy Commissioner also appealed to the farmers not to harvest the crops at night and bring only dry paddy as per the prescribed standards in the market so that their crops can be purchased without any delay.
