77TH INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS- FULL DRESS REHEARSAL HELD IN GGS STADIUM, DC TAKES SALUTE FROM MARCH PAST

A full-dress rehearsal for the 77th Independence Day celebration was held in Guru Gobind Singh Stadium on Saturday.

Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal unfurled the national Flag and took Salute to the participating contingents of March past comprising Punjab Police (Men and Women), Punjab Home Guards, ITBP, RTC PAP, CRPF Band ,NCC Scouts (Boys and Girls), Lyallpur Devi Sahai School, Lyallpur Khalsa School (Boys and Girls), Nehru Garden Government Senior Secondary School and Government Senior Secondary School, Adarsh Nagar led by parade commander PPS Officer Harshpreet Singh.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by DCP Jagmohan Singh and ADC Major Dr Amit Mahajan.

The march past was followed by a patriotic colourful cultural programme presented by students of different institutions SD College for Women, KMV College, Deaf and Dumb children of Red Cross, HMV College, SD Phullarwan School, Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Police DAV School.  A group of students from SD College for women sang the national anthem. A mass PT show was also presented by the students of various schools.

Minutes after the full dress rehearsal, the Deputy Commissioner also held a meeting with various departments in the stadium and gave final touch to the arrangements to district level Independence Day celebrations event. He said that Punjab Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Jai Kishan Rouri will preside over the District level Independence Day function to be held on August 15 here.
