Jalandhar, August 6
Punjab Local Bodies Minister Mr. Balkar Singh on Sunday said that the redevelopment of Jalandhar cantonment and Phillaur railway stations would bring a huge amount of industry upside in the district.
Participating in the virtual foundation stone ceremony of redevelopment railway stations by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, The Cabinet Minister said that Jalandhar was a hub of sports, leather and hand tool industry. He said that redevelopment would not increase the business growth of the industry but will also lead to rise in employment opportunities.
The Minister said the modernisation of these old railway stations would create a new atmosphere for development and leave a good impression on visitors especially businessmen who visit the Jalandhar regularly. He said that redevelopment of railway stations would also promote the Jalandhar and its culture among the visitors.
It is pertinent to mention that Jalandhar Cantonment Railway station will be redeveloped with Rs 98 crores whereas Rs 24 crore will be spent on Phillaur railway station.
Punjab Warehouse Corporation Chairperson Rajwinder Kaur Thiara and others were also present.
