Jalandhar, July 19: The 2nd Sub-Junior Punjab State Ranking Badminton Tournament – 2026, organized by Ratti Badminton Academy, Doaba College, Jalandhar, concluded on Sunday with a grand Closing Ceremony and Prize Distribution Function after four days of exciting badminton action from 16th to 19th July 2026.
The prestigious state ranking tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from talented young shuttlers representing various districts of Punjab. Throughout the championship, players showcased remarkable skill, determination, discipline, and exemplary sportsmanship, reflecting the bright future of badminton in the state.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Sh. Ritin Khanna Ji, Honorary Secretary, Punjab Badminton Association, who congratulated the winners and appreciated the excellent arrangements made by Ratti Badminton Academy for organizing the championship in a professional manner. He encouraged the young players to continue working hard and strive to bring laurels to Punjab and India at the national and international levels.
He was accompanied by Sh. Dheeraj Sharma Ji, Tournament Observer & Joint Secretary, Punjab Badminton Association, who appreciated the smooth conduct of the tournament and commended the organizers for maintaining high technical and organizational standards throughout the championship.
The ceremony was also graced by the presence of distinguished Guests of Honour, including Sh. Rajinder Gill Ji (Nawanshahr), Sh. Satish Sharma Ji (Hoshiarpur), Sh. Gursharan Prasad Ji (Hoshiarpur), Sh. Iqbal Singh Ji, Coach, Lovely Professional University, Sh. Vikas Mahajan Ji, Yoga Guru (Jalandhar), Sh. Kaka Ji, Former National Badminton Player (Jalandhar), and Sh. Arsh Ralhan Ji, Businessman (Jalandhar). The dignitaries distributed trophies, medals, and certificates to the winners and runners-up and conveyed their best wishes for their future sporting careers.
The tournament was conducted smoothly under the supervision of the technical officials. The Tournament Referees—Sh. Vilas Hans Ji, Sh. Varun Kumar Ji, and Ms. Shahnaaz—ensured the fair, transparent, and disciplined conduct of all matches in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Punjab Badminton Association. Their professionalism and dedication played a vital role in the successful execution of the championship.
Among those present were the office bearers of Ratti Badminton Academy, including Sh. Sachin Ratti Ji, Former International Badminton Player; Sh. Gagan Ratti Ji, General Secretary; and Mrs. Sapna Sharma Ji, Vice President, along with other members of the academy, coaches, officials, and volunteers who extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and ensured the smooth conduct of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries lauded the efforts of Ratti Badminton Academy in promoting badminton at the grassroots level by providing a competitive platform for young players. They appreciated the academy’s continuous contribution towards the development of badminton in Punjab and expressed confidence that many future national and international champions would emerge from such initiatives.
