Police Grievances portal receives 2.20 lakh complaints in one year, disposes of 69 percent

Jalandhar : Additional Director General of Police (Public Grievances Division) MF Farooqui on Wednesday said the grievance redressal portal of Punjab Police (www.pgd.punjabpolice.gov.in) has evoked an overwhelming response with 220223 lakh complaints were received from July 11, 2022 to 30 August, 2023 of which 151604 settled by the cops.

Addressing a press conference, MF Farooqui said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had launched this portal which was a 360-degree solution to the grievances of the people. He said that it was artificial Intelligence-based software to track the application, quality reporting, and timely disposal of the complaints.

ADGP said that out of 220223 lakh complaints, 78338 were uploaded by the people themselves which show proper awareness about the portal among them. He said that the Punjab police had also provided proper training to the concerned staff about the working of the portal which enabled the fast processing of the complaints.

He said that the grievances received on the portal were being resolved as soon as possible and a maximum period of 45- days was being ensured to settle the issues.

Reiterating the firm commitment of Punjab police to provide an accountable, transparent, and responsive system, MF Farooqui said that eight desks had been set up for close monitoring of every complaint.

He said that as many as 19 notices were also issued and 45 departmental inquiries initiated against the negligent officers in their work.
