DUEIC APPROVES CONSTRUCTION OF FIVE MAIN CITY ROADS INCLUDING NAKODAR ROAD AT AN OUTLAY OF Rs. 11.65 CRORE

Jalandhar : District Urban Environment Improvement Committee (DUEIC) led by Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Friday gave its nod to build new roads in the city at an outlay of Rs. 11.65 crore with DC directing the officials to start construction of these roads at the earliest.

Chairing a meeting held here at district administrative complex, the Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said that the quality of these new roads should be checked by the officials regularly as any kind of compromise with the quality of roads would be highly unwarranted. These roads include construction of Nakodar Road (Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Chowk to Municipal Limit via Guru Ravidass Chowk and Bhakat Kabir Chowk) at an outlay of Rs. 10.65 crore, Patel Chowk to Kapurthala Chowk at cost Rs. 41.42 lakh, Old Baradari Road at Rs. 40.08 lakh, Internal streets at DC complex at Rs. 12.63 lakhs, and Construction of streets with interlocking tiles in village Dhina at the cost of Rs. 6.35 lakhs.

Accompanied by Commissioner Jalandhar Municipal Corporation Abhijit Kaplish and other officials, the DC said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led state government was committed to providing better road infrastructure in both urban and rural areas. He said that the administration was laying focus on repairing and reconstruction of roads in the city as work for the same would be started soon. He said that the above-mentioned roads would be made under urban environment improvement program; hence the district level committee has approved funds for these roads.
Mr. Sarangal further stated that there was no paucity of funds to carry out development works in the district as the state government has already kick-started several development works in Jalandhar. He directed the officials of Jalandhar Municipal Corporation to complete all ongoing projects within stipulated time-frame so that people can get the benefit of these projects at the earliest.
